JOMO
Hello lovelies,
What is JOMO you may ask? No it’s not a typo for FOMO…. it’s the JOY of missing out!
But first… let’s talk about FOMO.
Fear of missing out. Not going to lie, this one hits home for me. Sometimes I feel pulled in so many directions that it’s nearly impossible not to be missing out on SOMETHING. Whether that be a morning with my kiddos, a career opportunity, or any number of social invitations — it always feels like something that isn’t the here-and-now is calling for my attention, which leaves me overwhelmed and distracted from the activities that bring me true joy.
Weekends are sometimes anything but chill. From plays-dates to kids’ birthdays to soccer practice and family adventures, our weekends can be as nonstop as our weekdays. A few weeks ago, after a particularly long Saturday, I was COOKED. The hubs Jamie went out, and after getting the down, I had the evening to myself for the first time since… WHO KNOWS WHEN.
Of course my brain went right to, “How can I get ahead? What can I read? Watch? What friend could I invite over for a cozy glass of wine?” …just as I began to spin out, I took a deep breath and reminded myself that I am a human being, not a human doing. I kindly un-subscribed from FOMO, and instead made myself a nutritious meal, organized Ellie’s play kitchen (don’t judge - I’m obsessed), jumped in my HigherDOSE Infrared Sauna and listened to a book on tape. And let me tell you, that night of self-care set me up for success in the week to come.
It’s easy to get caught in the motions of life. I often feel so overwhelmed that I don’t know which way is up — I mean, how many group text chains are legal?! I’m a big fan of flipping on the “do not disturb” mode, and indulging in my own sweet, yummy TLC, for I know I show up better for the ones who need me most when I show up for myself first.
Stepping away can result in profoundly beneficial shifts and clarity. I’ve recently announced a very special TLC offering with my Reset Retreat in beautiful Mykonos this October! Is this where JOMO and FOMO collide? Methinks so! We’ll be doing daily yoga + pilates fusion classes, gratitude flows, meditation and delighting in healthy Greek-style meals to RESET our mind-body connection. Nothing would make me happier than to meet you there!
In honor of truly being our best, most beautiful selves, I’ve included some of my favorite self care brands and a nutritious recipe below to help slow down the mental race of doing, and make the moments of being a little more sacred and rejuvenating.
May the month of LOVE be filled with the love you have for yourself! XO
Amy

Vegan Spinach and Mushroom Pasta
INGREDIENTS:
• Spinach
• Pasta of Choice
• Button Mushrooms
• Kite Hill Ricotta
• Lemon
• Basil (torn or rough-chopped)
• Garlic
• Maldon Salt
• Extra Virgin Olive Oil (I love Brightland)
INSTRUCTIONS:
Start by giving the veggies a good wash. With mushrooms, use a damp paper towel to clean.
Slice mushrooms to your liking. I used button, because of how easy they are to sauté, but feel free to get creative if you love another type.
Bring a large pot of water to boil. Salt the water when it starts boiling (like the sea)!
Sauté mushrooms, garlic, olive oil, salt & a squeeze of lemon until soft and carmelized. Toss in a big handful of spinach & some extra olive oil. Be sure note to overcook. Add pasta to boiling water & cook as directed.
Once pasta is cooked & drained, add to sauté pan. Remove from heat, add Kite Hill Ricotta, basil & another squeeze of lemon. Toss all together & salt to taste. Voila!
